Martin should write a book for airbnb hosts! 🙂 Everything from the house, communication, ease of check-in and check-out, through to cleanliness and little details like perfectly ironed sheets made for an amazing stay to rival any top-end hotel. The house is quite large with 3 bedrooms and easily accommodates a family of 6. Although it is located on the same plot as Martin’s house, it feels secluded and private because of the design of the garden. The location is also perfect – quiet, residential area within minutes of hiking trails, wine routes and easy access to other parts of the city. The perfect base in Cape Town. Upper Contantia Guest House is MORE than portrayed through description and photographs and that doesn’t happen very often! We were all extremely pleased. The Guest House is very secluded and because of beautifully placed landscape we couldn’t even see the other home on the property! Upper Constantia is a very upscale area, yet Martin and the guest house are very casual, warm, and inviting–nothing pretentious about either. Martin was wonderful about responding quickly to emails and meeting our needs (cot, high chair, fan). Martin was very considerate to the fact that we were traveling with a baby and was understanding as far as our check in and check out times so that our grand-baby could nap upon arrival and before departure.

The Guest House is impeccably clean and had everything we needed. We were pleasantly surprised at how VERY spacious the Guest House is. My husband and I, our daughter, son-in-law and grand-baby stayed together and each had our own bedroom. We grandparents were tucked away in our own spacious nook which gave relief to our daughter as we were never woken in the night by our grand-baby who was having a bit of jet lag (although we wouldn’t have minded:) It was wonderfully quiet for us all. We recently stayed along the waterfront in Cape Town and were worn out by the end of our trip–too busy and loud. Upper Constantia Guest House was a true retreat! We all sighed as we pulled into “our home” at the end of a day of touring. When we turned in for the night, we also felt very safe and protected.

The Guest House was so nice and comfortable that we enjoyed our time at “home” as much as touring. We enjoyed having meals at the Guest House in addition to sitting and visiting in the lounge and even watching a DVD with our grand-baby. The beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden’s is literally minutes away so we were able to enjoy it the very day we flew in. We frequented the nearby Constantia Village for groceries (Woolworths), brunch and lunch at Tasha’s (delicious), and petrol–the village had anything and everything we could have needed.

We can not recommend the Upper Constantia Guest House enough! It is lovely beyond words. Thank you Martin, for our wonderfully peaceful retreat in Upper Constantia. Your Guest House pleased all who stayed from our one year old grand daughter (her favorite was the playground) to her 28 year old mama, 32 year old daddy, and the 52 year old grandparents. From young to older, we all felt blessed to call Upper Constantia Guest House “home” for a few wonderfully relaxing days. Martin even had the American flag on the flag pole to welcome his American guests! We LOVED our stay…thank you! Cynthia, September 2014

We stayed 8 days in mid September at Martin and Robyn’s beautiful house in Costantia . There was a bottle of champagne and flowers on our arrival which made us immediately feel welcomed.
Robyn showed us around the house and explained where everything was. They are extremely friendly, organized and very, very helpful.
Martin was very responsive to any of our inquiries and went out of his way with recommendations of restaurants or places to visit.
His house is very close to wineries, the Botanical Garden and other attractions and it is 25-30min. to Cape Town. We loved Costantia, the house and Had a very relaxing and enjoyable time staying there.

Martin’s house is entirely consistent with the description. It is a lovely place. Martin and his wife have taken care to make guests feel comfortable – beyond standard.
Finally Martin has been a host highly available and discrete. Thanks for all, we had great time in Cap Town. Etienne, August 2014

We stayed at Upper Constantia for 4 weeks. It is close to everything, shops,
restaurants, beaches, forests, and amazing cafés. It is a beautiful home
with everything you need on holiday for a family. It is roomy, spotless and
modern, and nothing is ever an issue should you need it. Martin and his
wife, Robyn are excellent hosts and lovely people, very approachable and
easy-going. We absolutely loved our stay and will DEFINITELY be back. Thanks again and see you next year, inshallah…

Such many positive things about Upper Constantia guest house have already been written in english. And we would really like that french people visiting Cape Town choose to go to this guest house, so we will write here all the goog things we think about this guest house in french. Let us start !
Caroline, May 2014

We spent three wonderful nights at Martin’s guest house. It’s new, clean, well designed and comfortable. The location is well situated to either downtown or exploring the rest of the Cape Town area. Good security and quiet rounded out the great experience for all of us. I would not hesitate to recommend Martin and the guest house to anyone looking for a well above average place to stay in Cape Town.

Martin is an attentive and detail oriented host. This house might be the best base camp in Cape Town – close to Constantia hiking trails and Kirstenbosch, a quick jump to laid back and beautiful Hout Bay, and only a few minutes up some extraordinary coastline to Cape Town CBD. The house is clean, well appointed, and exudes relaxation. What a pleasure.

Great property surrounded by hiking trails directly behind house, and within literally 1 to 2 minutes drive. Beautiful golf courses nearby too. Really enjoyed the small wine farm Glen Constantia (less than 3 minute drive down the road) for beautiful views and a tasty charcuterie & cheese plate. Also really enjoyed Steenburg golf, as the whole Constantia area just has incredible views.

Having stayed at BOTH of Martin’s Upper Camps Bay and Upper Constantia properties now, its clear the level of detail throughout the whole experience is quite high. Since the Camps Bay Guest House was booked, I decided to try Constantia for a quieter experience. At first I was worried about the distance from the beach or town, but since the roads are so beautiful, and there’s hardly any traffic, it feels like the perfect location for a mini retreat. Still close enough to all the amenities of Cape Town, yet nestled beneath the backside of Table Mountain in a peaceful residential neighborhood.
The guest house is fully equipped for a luxurious stay, with all the latest modern kitchen gadgets, and luxurious bedding. The daily housekeeping ensures everything stays very clean. There’s some even nicer touches that just go above and beyond, like beautiful fresh flowers upon arrival, and my all time Airbnb favorite, an American flag proudly flying in the garden beside the guest house. Apparently he has a stash of different flags, and will raise one for each of the guest’s arrival. It was a beautiful surprise, and made us feel quite at home. Only small issue is the internet was a bit spotty sometimes, but its likely an isolated issue with the service provider. I HIGHLY recommend this guest house for a comfortable stay in Cape Town, as everything throughout the wahole process is top notch.

Waking to silence, punctuated by the calls of the Hadedas, to blue skies, to leisurely breakfasts on a sunny covered patio in a verdant lush garden, with beautiful vistas of the surrounding mountains… what more can one ask for? But there IS more: the house is spacious, bright, clean and uncluttered, lending itself to simple modern open living, where all amenities and comforts have been thought of. It is a wonderful safe ‘home from home’, perfect for just about any kind of holiday. Its location is quiet, but within an easy 10 minutes’ drive to an excellent shopping mall (Constantia Village), and within a 5 minutes’ drive to one of Cape Town’s main arteries into the city and out to the beaches in the southern suburbs. Our lovely hosts Martin and Robyn were most hospitable, accessible, and responsive to our every whim. Our 4-year old daughter enjoyed herself immensely, spending many happy hours playing in the pool and on the jungle gym in the garden, with Martin and Robyn’s daughter Ava. We loved it here and felt so at home. Given the opportunity we will return once again in a flush 🙂 !

Alles absolut perfekt!!

Thanks again so much for a wonderful time in paradise! I really enjoyed it and will take back lots of inspiration.

The ultimate place to stay in Cape Town! Super safe, comfortable, stunning views to the table mountain and a beautiful and huge garden. The house has two perfect bedrooms each with its own bathroom and superior living area which leads to an open terrace. It’s equipped with WLAN for the online addicts 🙂 and everything you can imagine even a 3d flastscreen.

I can really recommend to visit the nearby Kirstenbosch botanical garden, having vesper or a tasting in the winefarms (it’s so close you could even walk or cycle there) and don’t miss having seafood in one of Cape Towns Restaurants.
It’s a 15 minutes drive to the city center with the Waterfront and the malls. For those who do sports Cape Town has perfect surf and kitesurf conditions! On wind free days you go mountainbiking straight from the house to the next door Tokai forest and will find the best single trails you have seen so far.

Will definitely go there again.
